NEW! We are seriously considering altering the plan for the tour, based on some new info we received from George about Macy’s no longer there (all 7 stories of it)  and the food court is now only a burger joint and small bakery.
From George: “With the cold weather, I was wondering if you’re interested in splitting up the free time with this group? We could go directly to Navy Pier first, where they have lots more reasonably priced food choices including McDonalds, as well as nicer restaurants …they also have lots of shops and they had a bunch of tables set up with people selling arts and crafts type stuff…we could then pick the group up and take them to Watertower place for another say 2 hours for some additional shopping …I was surprised that Macy’s is gone ( that was 7 floors of shopping that is gone … the big food court on the bottom 2 floors is now a burger shop and a small bakery…”

When I Grow Up

REMINDER! Hi! I’m Amber Ponce, Rory’s mom and the costumer for Allegros. Congratulations on being cast for Matilda!
I’ll be stopping in to rehearsals to learn your faces and may ask some of you for basic measurements or to try on pieces prior to Allegros camp.  For the majority of the cast, I will not be taking measurements until Allegros camp; so please don’t be concerned if I haven’t measured you before then.
Here are some announcements related to costumes. Please review thoroughly and reach out if you have questions: mshs.costumes@gmail.com or 231-260-7848.
ALL CAST
  1. The time period for costumes is contemporary (i.e. right now).
  2. We will be renting school uniforms. It is critical that I have accurate measurements as they will arrive on the Friday before the show and we won’t have much time to make changes or get substitutions if something does not fit . Thus, we will need you to bring fitted clothing to Allegros camp so that I can take accurate measurements. Sweatpants and sweatshirts are too bulky for accurate measurements. We will take measurements in a separate room from rehearsals, so you may change just for the fitting if needed.
  3. If you gain more than a few pounds or bulk up muscle from the time of Allegros camp to March 1, please let me know. I will remeasure you at that time to ensure that your costume will fit.
  4. During scenes with school uniforms, the cast will wear their choir shoes. Gray socks will be provided and washed between rehearsals / shows (except Saturday matinee & evening performance).
  5. The adult ensemble may be asked to provide “street clothes” for Miracle and When I Grow Up. I will talk to you during camp about specific items I would like you to provide if needed. These shouldn’t be things you would need to purchase; they would be items you already own. These will need to be brought to school by Wednesday, March 15, and stay there through the performances.
FEMALE CAST MEMBERS
  1. All female cast members must wear a bra for dress rehearsals and performances. For measuring purposes, please bring the exact bra you expect to wear in the show to camp so that I can measure you as you’ll be on stage. For those of you that are playing male characters (Bruce, Eric, etc), I recommend a flattening sports bra. Please no black or dark-colored bras as your school uniform shirts are white. One matching your skin tone is best.
  2. Aside from the littles who are gendered characters, female cast members that need uniforms (everyone except Chloe, Ally, Summer, Sydney) may choose to have pants or a skirt as their uniform. Those with skirts will need to have a black pair of fitted shorts to wear beneath their skirt. I will ask your preference at camp.
  3. Female cast members wearing skirts in the Loud number will be required to provide black character shoes (those in pants will wear choir shoes). If you have nude ones from last year, you may paint them instead of buying new ones. I have black spray paint and can schedule a day to paint shoes. New ones typically cost $30 depending on size & availability. If you are new to Allegros and do not have character shoes, there are a handful of pairs that were donated by last year’s cast. These may be lent out on a first come, first served basis. Once Molly has told you whether you’ll be a “skirt” or a “pants,” please text or email me your name and one the following:
    • I have or will purchase black character shoes myself.
    • I have nude character shoes and would like you to paint them for me.
    • I do not have character shoes and would like you to order &/or check the closet for a pair. Indicate your size and whether you require a narrow, regular, or wide width — note that most people are regular width. These shoes are generally true to size, so there is no need to size up.
Thank you!

When I Grow Up

NEW!
Thank you!
